Nintendo warns against Wii mod chips

I think it is about time this sorta thing was taken care of, I prefer to have the games with the case and the instructions personally but that maybe is just me,
I think we could deffenetely start of a heated debate regarding this. anybody for it or against?

To help make your mind up here is a little paragraph from "CVG"

Modification microchips (mod chips) circumvent the security embedded into Nintendo's products. To install a mod chip into a Nintendo hardware system, it is necessary to dismantle the product and, in some instances, remove components," the warning reads.

"The use of mod chips voids the manufacturer's warranty. In addition, the installation of a mod chip can damage the functionality of a Nintendo console, sometimes rendering it incapable of repair."

Mod chips have been adjudicated to be illegal in various countries around the world, including the Unites States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. Most European countries have also already adopted laws prohibiting the circumvention of technological measures for copyright protection. People caught installing or selling mod chips may be subject to criminal charges."

There are now mod chips available for as little as $40 (£20) that will allow your Wii to play dirty pirate copies of games. But you have been warned - use a mod chip and Nintendo will come after you.

Mod chips are a bad thing, thay take away the fun of going out and buying a game. you go round see ya dodgy mate dave who has copied the entire wii collection and sells them to you for half the price of the new original one,
you never know if it will work there is no guarantee, and you console may die after the first few weeks of the mod chip being installed, then you have to go and buy a new console so you may not realy save any money.

so be warnedevileye

I totally agree... I have never ever had/wanted a chipped console, I recall this going back has far then the PSX, but it does take the fun out of collecting the games, and looks crap on your shelf having a bunch of random discs with games written on to them, yeah if it all goes to plan and works and your console never dies then yeah you save money, but I rather not take the risk I care too much for my possesions and money then to waste it away and have the seals broken and the console on a risk of crashing down for good.

Stay Legal I say.
